In June 1987 at Melrose Plantation in Natchitoches, Louisiana, Big Mama's Old Black Pot Recipes cookbook was introduced. Only 167 copies were taken to the festival, and in less than an hour all the books were sold. After more than two decades, that Old Black Pot continues to be a favorite.
This cookbook is brimming with page after page of nostalgia and recipes for good old-fashion, country-style cooking. Favorites such as Shrimp and Gravy, Tea Cakes, Skillet Meat Loaf, and Chicken Dressing are some of the recipes found in this book.
In response to the tremendous acceptance of the Old Black Pot, Big Mama has served up another heaping helping of delicious food and southern hospitality. The recipes are simple, directions easy to follow, and the food tastes as if Big Mama has been in the kitchen.
This cookbook provides a variety of foods that reflect the unique heritage of blended cultures rooted in the Deep South. Country Fried Apples, Vegetable Skillet, Glazed Pork Loin, Shrimp Stuffed Pasta Rolls, and Chocolate Brownie Cake are a few of Big Mama's favorites.
